On November 24, 2023, on the invitation of the Albanian Embassy in Canada, we had the pleasure to participate in the symbolic flag-raising ceremony at Queen's Park, Toronto, near the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. This ceremony marked the kickoff of the celebrations for the 111th anniversary of Albania's Independence by the Albanian-Canadian community.
At 11 am, members of the Albanian-Canadian community, representatives of diaspora organizations, and other guests honored the raising of the flag to the sounds of the national anthem sung by artist Aurel Thëllimi.
The Ambassador of Albania to Canada, His Excellency Mr. Ermal Muça. Following delivered opening remarks followed bu the honorable Billy Pang, Member of the Ontario Parliament and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism, who conveyed greetings from the Premier of Ontario.
The ceremony continued indoors at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, where musicians Entela Galanxhi and Qazim Kallushi presented a performance featuring works by beloved Albanian composers. Additionally, the youth dance group from the Albanian Mission St. Mother Teresa in Toronto, choreographed by Denajda Dhrimaj, showcased traditional Albanian dances for the attendees.
The seamless coordination of this memorable ceremony was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the ACE Society, Albanian Canadian Lawyers Association (ACLA), RH Scholarship, and the Albanian-Canadian Associationa long with the dedicated moderators Tea Haxhillari and Grejdi Meta.
